Recent studies show the concepts and methods from quantum information theory may provide us more insights to understand quantum field theory (QFT) and gravity. Entanglement is the key difference between quantum and classical system. In this talk I will introduce how to describe entanglement in QFT and its applications to understand intrinsic structure of QFT as well as gravity via AdS/CFT. Firstly, I will talk about the definitions and calculation methods of some information-theoretical quantities related to entanglement, including entanglement entropy, Renyi entropy, Holevo information and entanglement of purification.
